ABC’s 20/20 covered Steubenville on Friday night. They talked to one of the convicted rapists about his football career, underage drinking, and the dangers of social media. You know, THE IMPORTANT STUFF.
For example, here is the editor of Seventeen magazine speaking out about…SOCIAL MEDIA:

Rape is an “online behavior!” Social media is the problem here! OF COURSE. And never mind that if the “online behavior” of sharing pictures had not occured, things would have never come out about what the VICTIM had went through.
One of the more interesting things from it, aside from 20/20 completely missing the whole “RAPE” aspect of a story that is 100% about RAPE, is that they encouraged viewers to use the #ABC2020 hashtag to discuss. An online horde of some of the most brilliant minds in existence rushed to share their views…

If you thought these unbelievable reactions to Steubenville would just peter out, I guess you can say you were pretty, pretty wrong.
And here’s part 3:

Well, that last tweet took an unexpected turn.
The victim-blaming, slut-shaming reactions to the Steubenville rape case keep pouring in. You can check out my first post on it here. Pointing out the worst responses and reactions to this all would not be complete without posting a clip of CNN grieving over the “ruined lives of the boys.” Watch that HERE.
Now, here are a few new tweets that make some of the reactions in my previous Steubenville post look soft…

“They did with most people in their situation would have done.” No. They did not.

And, finally, let Kayla here tell you of an “all too familiar” story…

“Be responsible for your actions ladies before your drunken decisions ruin innocent lives.”
The news out of Steubenville today is a *small step* in the right direction for a town that seems to be plagued with cover-ups in an attempt to save their beloved football team. Two young men were sentenced to juvenile detention in the Steubenville rape case today. I suggest you look up what they put the victim through if you are not familiar with the story. Anyway, as per usual when the internet discusses rape, there’s some pretty horrible stuff online today.
Take it away, Twitter…

And Conservative news website, Breitbart, would like you to focus on how evil Anonymous is (because they helped bring much of what happened in Steubenville to light):

And over on Reddit, a number of comments posted to the more mainstream subreddits had to be quickly downvoted…

And over on Facebook, folks seemed to focus on trying their hardest to blame the victim and her being drunk. Here’s a small sample…

(Update: There’s so many, I just put up a second post HERE.)
