Public Shaming

Asiana Airlines Flight 214, a Boeing 777, from Seoul, South Korea crashed upon landing at the San Francisco International Airport today. Upon hearing the terrible news, many people checked the world wide web to find any info they could about the tragedy.

Others, well, I think this tweet perfectly captures the “combo” you are about to see:

Some people just hear “Korea” and assume North Korea is trying to attack America. “That’s just stupid” say the others, who take an opportunity to make the ever so original comment that Asians / Koreans can’t drive! “Don’t you get it? It’s because of their eyes! Totes not racist!”

Yeah, yeah. The whole “Asians / Koreans can’t drive OR FLY! LOLOLOLOL” thing goes on and on, you can find a ton more of it on Twitter.

But, we’re not done here quite yet! You see, this tragic plane crash isn’t really just human error or a technical malfunction…it’s an attack from NORTH KOREA (even though 1. the plane is from South Korea. and 2. freaking planes from North Korea do not just fly on in to San Francisco.)

Shit. We were all just so busy with stuffing our face with hot dogs and complaining about Obama taking away the military’s grand Fourth of July fireworks show that we forgot about the ever present NORTH KOREAN THREAT.
